Base Unit
The Base Unit is initially set on the Start tab of the Value Maps tool. You may change it here, if appropriate. You can also change the display currency using the drop-down menu, as well as set the precision (number of decimal places).
Alternative Customer Units
Click the Add Alternative Unit link to create a new unit of measure for the value map. Enter the name of the new unit, followed by the number of original units equal to one new unit. For example, if the base unit is per gallon, and you want to create a new unit for per 5-gallon container, then enter “5-gallon container” = 5 gallons.
Click the double-arrow button at the right of the row to flip the display of the unit conversion. (This is helpful especially when the original unit is smaller than the new unit.) Then, enter the number of new units equal to one original unit. For example, if the base unit is per gallon and you want to create a new unit for per ounce, you can flip the display in order to enter 1 gallon = 128 ounce.
Again you can adjust the precision (decimal places) for each alternate product unit.
Sub Formulas
You can make any alternate customer unit into a sub formula. Do this in Tab 4. Summary - Variables sub tab.
